Developing Players the Liverpool Way
Liverpool FC International Academy Türkiye is the Turkish home of Liverpool FC’s international football development programme, created to give young players the opportunity to experience the football culture, development philosophy and values of Liverpool FC.
Our programme is about more than developing football ability. We aim to create an environment where players can enjoy the game, express themselves, develop as individuals and reach their full potential both on and off the pitch.
The Liverpool FC International Academy coaching approach follows the development philosophy and curriculum delivered to players in Liverpool. Our goal is to support every player throughout their individual development journey while giving them an authentic experience of the Liverpool Way.
Our Vision
To be the world leader in the development of children through football.
We see football as much more than a sport. It can be a powerful platform for developing confidence, communication, teamwork, discipline and important life skills.
Our Purpose
To deliver the greatest possible impact through the power of Liverpool FC.
Every training session, match and experience is designed to contribute to the development of our players, both as footballers and as people.
Our Guiding Principle
To be authentic in every aspect of our youth coaching operation.
The Liverpool FC International Academy experience is built around the football culture, coaching philosophy and values of Liverpool FC.
We want our players to understand that representing Liverpool FC is not only about how they perform on the pitch, but also about how they conduct themselves and interact with others.
Our Values
Four fundamental Club Values are at the heart of every Liverpool FC International Academy programme:
Ambition
We believe every player should be encouraged to become the best version of themselves.
Our players are challenged to try new things, set development goals, push themselves and continue improving every time they step onto the pitch.
Success is not measured by results alone. Effort, a desire to learn and the ambition to fulfil your potential are all important parts of development.
Passion
A love of football sits at the heart of everything we do.
We want our players to enjoy playing the game, bring energy and enthusiasm to every session and develop a meaningful connection with Liverpool FC.
Particularly during the early stages of development, creating a lifelong love of football is one of our most important objectives.
Integrity
Representing Liverpool FC means more than playing football.
We encourage our players to show respect for their teammates, opponents, coaches and the game itself, while taking responsibility for their actions and doing the right thing.
Character and behaviour, both on and off the pitch, are an important part of player development.
Unity
We are stronger together.
Football is a team game, and we encourage players to communicate, solve problems together, support one another and work towards a common goal.
Our aim is to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every player feels valued as part of the team.
Player-Centred Development
At the heart of the Liverpool FC development model is the player.
Our programmes aim to support development across five key areas:
Technical
- Developing core techniques
- High repetition
- Opposed and unopposed practices
- Creating more skilful players
Tactical
- Attacking and defending principles
- Counter-attack and counter-defend transitions
- Providing decision-making opportunities under different types of pressure
- Different systems of play
Physical
- Agility, balance, stability, coordination, reactions, strength, endurance, power and speed should all be considered
- Supporting physical development
- Fundamental and game-related movements
Social
- Challenging players appropriately
- Encouraging players to interact, problem solve, compete and work as a team
- Providing support where necessary, visually, verbally or practically
Cognitive
- Knowing the player as a person and understanding how to meet their individual needs
- Preparation, bravery, accepting pressure, freedom of expression and positive body language
- Supporting emotional development
Learn, Explore and Develop
We believe players should be able to express themselves without being afraid of making mistakes.
Trying something new, making mistakes and learning from them are all natural parts of development.
The role of our coaches goes beyond teaching football. They are there to help players build confidence, enjoy the game and discover their individual potential.
That is why our sessions create a positive learning environment that recognises effort, encourages creativity and supports continuous development.
